Minneapolis Breakfast Club

Solomon Strategies Group State Capitol Outing

Today was a special day for the Minneapolis Breakfast Club, starting with breakfast at the State Department of Transportation cafeteria. First to arrive was the old ballplayer, Dick Anderson, followed soon after by Robert Sanberg. There is an ongoing mystery as to how exactly they got into the building when other members were waiting outside the front door at 7 AM.

After breakfast, our host Jim Erickson led us to a committee meeting room in the newly renovated State Capitol building. We were joined by esteemed State Representatives Rep. Dennis Smith (R-Maple Grove), Rep. Peggy Scott (R-Andover), and Rep. Frank Hornstein (DFL-Minneapolis).

Jim Erickson outlined the plan to conduct a mock hearing of the Real ID bill that was presented to the state house just a short time ago. During the meeting, Breakfast Club members filled the roles of committee members and expert witnesses while the leadership roles were filled by the State Representatives. What a great way to get a feel for state government at work! The meeting was followed by a tour of the renovated Capitol building.

It was a perfect day and location for a transfer of power as Robert Sanberg was recognized for his service to the Breakfast Club with the presentation of a golden gavel. Following the presentation, the Breakfast Club welcomed Robbie Danko as the new President.

Robbie’s first order of business was to take next week off. We will meet again on July 12, 2017 at the Woman’s Club.
