Minneapolis Breakfast Club

Find Hope with Faith’s Lodge

Today we were at the Edina Country Club again. First to arrive was Dick Anderson followed by Robert Sanberg.

President Kelsey Wolter called the meeting together with a ring of the bell and a moment of silence.

Honorary members in attendance were Mark Simon, Russ Bremner, and Martin Peyer.

There will be NO meeting next week, May 30th. Our next gathering will be June 6th at one of the Washburn-McReavy locations which is TBD.

Get your foursomes ready! This year’s Breakfast Club Golf Outing is June 18th at Forest Hills Country Club.

The annual Lake Minnetonka Boat Cruise is planned for an evening in August, TBD. Tell Mike Palm if you have a favored date. Let’s fill up this year’s boat with 100 people!

We received a foraging report from Dave Mitchell; they were skunked on Sunday. I guess we need some rain and cool weather at night.

Randy Korn is still searching for a Lead Carpenter. Please reach out to him with any referrals.

By a show of hands at today’s meeting, Club members voted in favor of making the Edina Country Club our home base for the Summer of 2018.

There was a Board meeting after breakfast.

This Week’s Craft Talk

Faith’s Lodge mission is to support parents and families coping with the death or a medically complex condition of a child in a peaceful environment to reflect on the past, renew strength for the present, and build hope for the future.

They do this by offering optional programming during the family stay at their lodge. Programming consists of professionally led discussion groups, therapeutic arts and crafts, mindfulness, yoga, and north woods adventures on their 80-acre site.

Faith’s Lodge has served over 7,000 families since 2007 as a nonprofit corporation. Donations are always welcome.

Faith’s Lodge has started a new outreach program, Hope Works Here. This is an opportunity for corporations to help their employees who suffer a loss and for the coworkers to learn how to be supportive. They do this through 1) Transition coaching for the employee returning to work, 2) a Certificate for a stay at Faith’s Lodge for the employee, and 3) Provide resources for the employer and co-workers to help their coworker affected by the loss.
