Minneapolis Breakfast Club

All Aboard for the 2018 Aquatennial

As we drove up to the Edina CC, we noticed a brand-new hearse in the parking lot. Todd Anderson was on his way to deliver the silver “ghost” carrier and stopped by to be the first to arrive. He was followed by Dick Anderson and Mark Arnold.

President Kelsey Wolter brought the meeting to order and presided over her last meeting as president.

Guests: Jim Christenson brought Jeannie Yannarelli of Harmon Inc. Jim Erickson brought Tom Devine, Regent Emeritus of the University of Minnesota.

Honorary Members in attendance were Mark Simon, Dick Lindskoog, and Russ Bremner.

  1. Mike Palm had over 50 signed up for the August 8 Boat Cruise. We are trying to have at least 70 sign up so we can get the big boat, Bella Vista. Send Mike an email with your signups.
  2. Tony Rubin announced that David Goodwyne has agreed to serve as Vice President for the last 6 months of 2018. He will become President in 2019. We will soon have an election to formalize that.

Business Networking: Staples is looking for an Office furniture account representative. Call Jim Christianson with a lead.

Business Exchange: Paul Ralles started the exchange for the 2nd week in a row and was followed by Tony Rubin, Jim Christenson, Dwain Coleman, John Winston, Dave Mitchell, Karen Holtmeier, Mike Palm, Chris Leonard, Susanne Bonfe, and Kelsey Wolter. Great exchange today!

Table Introductions: There were no Table introductions today.

Pot of Gold: Jim Christianson drew Rhonna Hed’s card as the big winner today.

Craft Talk: Jim Erickson, Past Commodore of the Aquatennial in 2004, introduced our craft speaker Commodore Bill McReavy, Jr. of the Minneapolis Aquatennial.

Bill introduced the ambassador group with him. Queen Vanessa Gonzalez, Princess LeAnn Eidahl, Princess Ellie Brimeyer, Captain Kenny Devine, and Captain Quentin Moore.

This group has spent the last year representing the best of Minneapolis and Minnesota throughout the state and even visiting other state festivals.

The “Ten best day of summer” Minneapolis Aquatennial features the Milk Carton Boat Race, Torchlight Parade, and Fireworks.

Commodore Bill presented a medal to our own Dick Anderson for his lifetime community support to sports and his high school.

If you wish to learn more about the Minneapolis Aquatennial and Aquatennial Ambassadors Organization (AAO), go to www.AquatennialAmbassadors.com.  Bill McReavy is Commodore; Jim Erickson, Chairman of the AAO Board.

Bill will be bringing the six Aquatennial Ambassadors who attend the Breakfast Club meeting on the August 8 Boat Cruise.  Thank you, Bill.   And thanks to Mike Palm for buying Aquatennial pins for all on board.

If you wish to contribute to the Scholarship Fund for the three accomplished young women you heard from at the meeting, please email Jim to confirm, or just mail a check to his SSG address.  Corporate logoed sponsorships of AAO events are also available, with sponsors invited to AAO events during the week of July 17th to 21st.  Sponsorships are $250 to $1,000.   Thank you for your support of this leadership opportunity for amazing young women such as you heard from at the meeting.
