Craft Talk:
Paul Ralles brought us on a trip down memory lane with Knollwood Liquors today. Paul’s father purchase Knollwood Liquors and in the late 60’s joined the Minneapolis Breakfast Club. Paul and his brothers grew up in the business and all worked there. Paul left the business and went into teaching for a number of years.
After Pauls’ father passed, his mother sold the business and Paul came back to manage the business for the new owner.
This past summer, Paul retired and said he would work one day a week to help out. Of course, he is currently working several days a week as COVID affects the workforce.
Interesting tidbit is that in most years, Paul felt that the business was successful if the sales stayed even with the prior year. In 2020, with the COVID restrictions in place Knollwood had sales increase by 31%.
Paul regaled us with anecdotes of growing up in the family liquor business and generously gave away 4 bottles of wine and liquor. You needed to be present to win….
Stop in at Knollwood Liquors on a Wednesday and see Paul and bring home a bottle or a case of your favorite adult beverage.
