Craft Talk: Sean Merkel of Summit Companies who was gracious enough to fill in for Mike Palm on short notice.

Sean was in the family business United Sprinkler until 2004 when the company was acquired by Summit Fire. Summit wanted to acquire United Sprinkler for their Rack Storage expertise and ability to expand into multiple states where United Sprinkler was operating. Since then, Sean has been the Rack Storage Division Manager of Summit Companies traveling throughout the US doing major projects.

Summit has really grown the last 3 years through acquisitions. 96 million in revenue to 503 million in revenue and from 500 employees to 3000 employees.

Sean really liked the family business feeling and still enjoys that as he has 3 of his sisters working for him the past 20 years plus a brother-in-law and now a niece starting out.

If you do not like heights this is NOT the place to work as the Automated Rack Systems can be 100 feet tall. Sean said the height is starting to get to him as time moves on.

Sean did a drawing for $25 gift cards to Paul Ralles Knollwood Liquors. Winners were Jim Erickson, Rob Fredrickson and Julius Webster.

Please register with Sean and thank him for his craft talk. Use the club website or a directory for his contact info.
